<p>Covid-19 infections are increasing at an alarming rate across the country. In view of this, the Centre has released guidelines for people who have recovered from COVID-19 and want to donate plasma to other infected patients.</p> <p>If you arent aware, plasma therapy is a procedure, wherein the blood of a person who has recovered from the coronavirus infection is extracted and injected into a patient suffering from the disease. The plasma contains antibodies that can help the patient fight the deadly pathogens and recover from the disease. Follow these guidelines before donating plasma to COVID-19 patients.</p> <p>1. Always carry a hard copy of your COVID-19 negative report and Aadhar Card (front and back). The RT-PCR or Rapid Antigen test should be within 4 months of the day of donation.</p> <p>2. A person can donate plasma:</p> <p>>14 days have passed after a Covid-19 positive report, if asymptomatic</p> <p>>14 days after symptoms have disappeared, if symptomatic.</p> <p>3. Women who have ever been pregnant cannot donate COVID-19 plasma.</p> <p>4. A person who has received COVID-19 vaccination will not be able to donate plasma for 28 days from the date of vaccination.</p> <p>5. A person can not donate if he/she does not have enough antibodies present in their blood.</p> <p>6.
