According to a report in the Times of India, BCCI is unhappy with the way things have unfolded in England which resulted in a Covid-19 breakout in Team India. As a result, the entire coaching staff including head coach Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun, R Sridhar & Nitin Patel tested positive for Covid-19 after attending a book launch event before the 4th Test at the Oval.

Interestingly the entire team was present at the launch and the BCCI now wants an explanation from Team India head coach, skipper as well as manager Girish Dongre.

Also Read: Ravi Shastris RT-PCR test also returns positive, to miss last Test

Apart from the coaching panel, the rest of the team tested negative for Covid-19 and played the Oval Test which they won in a commanding manner by 157 runs. The report suggests that Virat Kohli and company didnt seek proper clearance from BCCI to attend the event and the board is miffed with their approach.

Earlier Rishabh Pant tested positive for Covid-19 during the break between the World Test Championship final and the England series and was forced to undergo mandatory 10-day isolation before returning to the team.

The BCCI top brass is also unhappy because the cricketers are set to fly out to the UAE to take part in the remainder of IPL 2021 before turning up for the all-important World T20 and infection during this busy season of cricket will derail the team plans.
