<p>A day after income tax officers raided its office over alleged <a href=https://www.editorji.com/story/paratha-gst-the-major-tax-difference-with-rotis-and-why-1631184029948 target=_blank>tax</a> evasion, NewsClick issued a statement on Saturday , stating it is not the first time the organisation has been targeted by the government.</p> <p>In the statement signed by editor-in-chief Prabir Purkayastha, the company has said the offices of NewsClick, as well as the residences of people associated with it were raided by the Enforcement Directorate earlier this year.</p> <p>It was informed that NewsClick has cooperated with the investigations and handed over all the documents they have asked for from time to time.</p> <p><strong>Also Read <a href=https://www.editorji.com/story/income-tax-carries-out-survey-operations-at-offices-of-two-delhi-based-newsportals-1631281928674 target=_blank>Income Tax carries out survey operations at offices of two Delhi-based newsportals </a></strong></p> <p>Purkayastha said in the statement that raids were conducted over some false and unfounded allegations being investigated by the ED and the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing.</p> <p>Purkayastha alleged that these investigations by various agencies are attempts to stifle independent journalism of media organisations - including NewsClick.</p>
