New ICC Test Rankings: Root rises to the top, Rohit overtakes Kohli

<p>Joe Root has been rewarded for his consistent&nbsp;show in whites as he has reclaimed the top spot in the newly released ICC&nbsp;Test rankings for batsmen after nearly 6 years.</p> <p>The English skipper started the series vs India in the 5th position but tons of runs so far helped him overtake Virat&nbsp;Kohli, Marnus&nbsp;Labuschagne, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson to to the number 1 spot.&nbsp;</p> <p>Meanwhile, Rohit&nbsp;Sharma&nbsp;leapfrogged Virat&nbsp;Kohli&nbsp;to his career-best 5th position. He is now Indias highest-ranked Test batsman.
