As the second wave of Covid-19 continues to create havoc throughout India, some people who contract the disease recover completely, while there are some who aren’t as lucky.

Research suggests that there are some classic symptoms that continue to persist even after recovery. At present, there seems to be a sudden surge in digestive issues like acidity, bloating, gaseousness and constipation, in the recovery phase after the Covid infection.

Doctors have reported that even after recovering from Covid, patients are experiencing loss of appetite or increased appetite, upper abdominal pain, acidity, diarrhea and vomiting. It seems that apart from disrupting the other organs and body parts, the virus affects the Gastrointestinal tract. Such digestive problems need to be addressed and solved in order to avoid any further complications.

In order to get relief, it’s best to avoid eating spicy, oily, and processed foods. It is also advised that people stick to a well-balanced diet comprised of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid eating foods that invite acidity, acid reflux and bloating. Limit tea and coffee intake to one or two cups a day and instead have enough water to keep hydrated. In addition, staying physically active can also help reduce constipation-related issues and even acidity.

As several cases continue to be reported, doctors recommend covid patients to closely watch their symptoms post-recovery, follow a healthy diet and try going back to their usual routine.
