Gujarat CM resigns: BJP state legislative party holds meeting to elect new leader

<p>BJPs&nbsp;Gujarat Legislative Party is holding a meeting to elect a new chief minister after Vijay&nbsp;Rupani&nbsp;resigned from the post on Saturday. The meeting is being headed by union ministers Narendra&nbsp;Singh&nbsp;Tomar&nbsp;and Prahlad&nbsp;Joshi, who have been appointed as the partys central observers.</p> <p>There is talk that Praful Khoda Patel, administrator of the union territories of Lakshadweep and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, is among the top contenders.</p> <p>Also reportedly being considered are Parshottam Rupala, the Union Minister of Fisheries and Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister.&nbsp;The name of Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel is also doing the rounds</p> <p>Also watch:&nbsp;<a href=https://www.editorji.com/story/gujarat-cm-resigns-will-mansuklh-mandaviya-replace-vijay-rupani-1631364656262>Gujarat CM resigns: Will Mansuklh Mandaviya replace Vijay Rupani?</a></p> <p>Rupanis resignation came 15 months before the election to the 182-member Assembly that is due in December 2022.</p>
