In his bid to get ahead at work, Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) suppresses his disgust and lends his apartment to his supervisors for one-night rendezvous. One morning, he sees a girl being thrown out onto the streets and decides to help her. He finds her a job at his firm and eventually falls in love with her. But the girl Neeta (Neeta Khayani) succumbs to the charms of Choudhary (Prem Chopra), Jai’s boss, not knowing that he’s a sleaze ball and a married man. Choudhary, on the other hand, promotes Jai and begins to borrow the key to his flat to spend time with Neeta. Will Jai intervene once he realises Neeta is being taken for a ride or will he mind his own business, now that he's been promoted?
