Synopsis

Episode 25 of GOLDEN CLASSICS revisits the 1989 explosive blockbuster TRIDEV, directed by Rajiv Rai. A defining action entertainer of its era, ‘Tridev’ blended high-voltage drama, stylized storytelling and chartbuster music to create a film that became a cultural phenomenon. ‘Tridev’ brought together an iconic trio - Sunny Deol, Jackie Shroff and Naseeruddin Shah, each representing a different shade of heroism, united in their mission to fight the evil ‘Bhujang’ played by Amrish Puri. Madhuri Dixit, Sonam and Sangeeta Bijlani played the 3 leading ladies. One of the film’s most pathbreaking contributions was Kalyanji–Anandji’s music. ‘Tridev’ marked a turning point in Hindi film sound with the dynamic involvement of Viju Shah whose innovative use of electronic arrangements and synthesizers gave the soundtrack a modern, pulsating feel, revolutionising mainstream Bollywood music for the coming decades. The chartbursting music of ‘Tridev’ remains relevant even today, continuing to find resonance with newer generations and contemporary cinema like ‘Dhurandhar 2’. ‘Tridev’ is the perfect tribute for our milestone 25th episode of GOLDEN CLASSICS.
