Over the course of his lifetime, Major MB Rai served with Army, Assam Rifles, Nagaland Police and Naga Village Guards. His story has been narrated by his children and have given us a glimpse into who he was a person and his humanitarian deeds.

Age Ratings : All Ages Story of a lesser known Soldier, who was the lone survivor of a Japanese Air Bombing on the Indian Allied Forces in Burma Campaign of World War II, for this itself he was honoured with Military Cross by the British Crown. Post-Independence, dedicated to the cause of Indian Union, Subedar KB Limbu led a platoon and charged an insurgency stronghold, sacrificing himself first to destroy the hostile forces. Subedar Major Kharaka Bahadur Limbu is now an example to men of his regiment and various Assam Rifles soldiers. He displayed outstanding leadership, courage and gallantry in the highest traditions of the Assam Rifles and was posthumously awarded Ashoka Chakra, India's highest gallantry award in peacetime.
