Geeta Malhotra (Shabana Azmi) is depressed after she has a miscarriage and the doctor declares that she will not be able to conceive again. One day, she comes across a young boy left inadvertently on the city bus. She takes him home and starts treating him like her own son, and becomes deeply attached to the child.
