Vishvam (Naseeruddin Shah) is one of four hoodlum brothers who rule their feudal village with an iron grip. They execute schemes to add to their wealth at the expense of the villagers and habitually order the men in the village to send their women to them. But unlike his brothers, Vishvam tries to lead a relatively restrained life and refrains from drinking and smoking. However, when a new school teacher arrives in the village with his beautiful wife, Vishvam lusts after her and his brothers abduct her. Enraged, the schoolmaster instigates the villagers to rebel against their tyranny. Will they heed and help him in rescuing her? Is Vishvam responsible for this crime?
