Rajjo (Rajshree) is in love with Flight Lieutenant Jeetu (Jeetendra). But before they could get married, war is declared and Jeetu has to leave for combat. Rajjo's family, meanwhile, perishes in aerial bombardment and she re-locates to live with her cousin. When Jeetu returns, he is devastated to find out that everyone has been killed and his house has been destroyed in the war. He also has to resign from his job because of his leg injury. Jeetu then wanders aimlessly on the streets. A wealthy woman Rani Saheba (Sulochana Latkar) takes pity on him and hires him as a manager. She's worried about her philandering, alcoholic son and Jeetu suggests that she should get him married. Unfortunately, the marriage is arranged with Rajjo, whom Jeetu had presumed to be dead. Jeetu and Rajjo do not reveal their past. But on the wedding night, Rajjo's husband dies and she later creates a scandal when she gets pregnant.
