Unknowingly, Kumar (Prem Chopra) sends a marriage proposal to a beautiful girl, Neena (Sadhana), who turns out to be his best friend, Rohit's (Rajendra Kumar) fiancée. Neena rejects his proposal and also wounds his ego. Enraged and humiliated, Kumar vows to get even with her and assaults her on the day of her engagemen with Rohit. In the ensuing fight with Rohit, Kumar loses an eye but manages to escape. Thinking of herself as unworthy, Neena refuses to marry Rohit. Neena discovers she is pregnant with Kumar's child and tries to commit suicide. Rohit saves her and convinces her to marry him. But Kumar, who eventually becomes a feared criminal returns. What is his motive now? Will he continue tormenting the couple?
