Rita's (Zeenat Aman) father hides money stolen from Southern Bank, gets shot at the airport while trying to escape and utters the name of his daughter and a secret code before dying in the arms of a police officer. The culprits and the police are now chasing Rita, hoping she would know the location of the money. Meanwhile, a clueless Rita chances upon a local guide called Chhailla Babu (Rajesh Khanna) while on a trip to Kashmir. He saves her from a fatal skiing accident and they become friends until Rita suspects him of being the dreaded criminal who killed her father.
