While working in Prakash's (Ashok Kumar) factory, his loyal employee Amar (Sunil Dutt) nabs Munshi (Jeevan) while stealing money. Munshi ends up murdering Amar, leaving behind his widowed wife, Malti (Meena Kumari), and their son. Prakash takes it upon himself to help the family but Munshi spreads rumours about an alleged affair between Malti and Prakash. This forces the two of them to marry, leaving the son disgruntled. Munshi then suggests the boy to kill Prakash. Does he act on it? Does the discomfited, hasty marriage survive?
