An aspiring singer Raj (Salman Khan) can't seem to find a footing in the music business. When he comes to Mumbai, he saves a young woman Pooja Oberoi (Rani Mukerji) after an accident, although she slips into a coma. There, Raj meets her rich family who mistake him for the man she had eloped with. Indebted to him, the music company owner related to Pooja offers to release his album, which compels him to keep up with the drama of being her lover. Meanwhile, Raj begins to fall for Pooja's close friend, Jahnvi (Preity Zinta), who reciprocates his feelings. Matters complicate when Pooja wakes up and begins to develop feelings for Raj.
