Jaanisaar' is a period love story between a revolutionary courtesan, Noor (Pernia Qureshi) and a prince brought up in England, Ameer (Imran Abbas). Ameer is blinded by his loyalty to the British, but when he meets Noor, she makes him see the truth as she exposes the injustice inflicted by them on Indians. Realising his mistake, Ameer announces that he won't collect taxes from his people. He supports Hindu-Muslim unity and refuses to marry for political and monetary gains. Ameer's grandfather fears that opposing the British would put his life in danger and thus, never tells him that his parents were revolutionaries too, who were killed by Ameer's friend, Commissioner Cavendish. As the truth unfolds, both Noor and Ameer fight the invaders, paving the way for other revolutionaries to follow.
