Rajasthan drama shifts to SC, Speaker challenges HC breather

<p>Rajasthan political drama has shifted to the Supreme Court after the high court reserved its ruling on rebel MLAs plea for Friday. Assembly Speaker CP Joshi has moved the top court against HC asking him to not take any action on Sachin Pilot and 18 other rebel MLAs disqualification till then.</p> <p>It is well-defined by the Supreme Court that only the Speaker can decide on anti-defection. It can be judicially reviewed only later, after the Speakers decision, Joshi said. He added that the rebels petition against the disqualification notice is a dangerous precedent&nbsp;that could lead to a breakdown of constitutional rules.</p> <p>Team Sachin Pilot got its second three-day breather after the High Court finished hearing arguments on Tuesday on the case against disqualification notices served after the rebels skipped two meetings of Congress MLAs.</p> <p>The rebels have argued that no whip can be in place when the assembly is not in session. They also told the court they have no plans to quit the Congress; they only want change in its Rajasthan leadership.</p> <p>The court verdict will have a huge impact on a floor test in the Rajasthan assembly. Gehlot is keen on a floor test as soon as possible before Pilot camp gets a chance to win over more MLAs.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
