Synopsis

<p>45 of the 61 newly elected Rajya Sabha MPs took oath of office on Wednesday. Rajya Sabha chairperson Venkaiah Naidu administered the oath to the MPs inside the House chambers due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This is for the first time that MPs have taken oath when the House is not in session. Among those who took oath was Jyotiradtiya Scindia who has recently switched to the BJP from the Congress. He has been elected from MP. Other MPs who were not present for the ceremony will be administered the oath at a later date.</p>
