Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in a video interview to his party Shiv Senas mouthpiece Saamna has said that he is not Donald Trump, he cannot see his people suffering in front of his eyes. The chief ministers comment was in response to a question by the mouthpieces executive editor and party MP Sanjay Raut regarding relaxations of the strict restrictions in the state.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav has been extremely cautious in easing the curbs, a stark contrast to US President Donald Trump who is opposed to tougher restrictions and initially even downplayed the pandemic. Maharashtra is the worst affected state in India with over 3.27 lakh confirmed cases, out of which 1.32 lakh cases are active.

Thackerays entire interview is expected to be released on the weekend.
