Synopsis

"Bharat Bhushan created a place for himself in the 1950s & early 60s despite the ruling trio of Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor & Dev Anand. And he managed to do so mainly with his on-screen portrayals of a poet, shayar, singer, or a musician. He came in limelight with the huge success of Vijay Bhatt’s ‘Baiju Bawra’, a musical blockbuster. And soon Bharat Bhushan became synonymous with good music & classical-based songs. After winning Filmfare’s Best Actor award for ‘Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’, he continued his success story with ‘Mirza Ghalib’ and ‘Basant Bahar’. His romantic pairing with Madhubala resulted in hits like ‘Phagun’, ‘Barsaat Ki Raat’& ‘Gateway Of India’. He decided to produce a film after his acting career saw a decline in the 60s and produced ‘Dooj Ka Chand’ but suffered huge losses. He was practically forced to sell off all his properties and investments and was soon reduced to playing bit roles in films for mere sustenance. A gentle and well-read actor, Bharat Bhushan’s ‘Riches to Rags’ life mirrors the uncertainties one faces in the world of Entertainment. SCREEN LEGENDS – BHARAT BHUSHAN pays a tribute to the forgotten hero and re-lives some of his cherishable silver screen moments through his scenes and song clips. "
