Synopsis

Jaya Bhaduri is one of the brilliant actresses of Indian Cinema who introduced a naturalistic style of acting in mainstream and middle-of-the road cinema in the early 70s. Her career span might have been short but the work she did left a huge impact on the Hindi film audience. Jaya rarely appeared in elaborate costumes, make-up or hairdos which was quite unusual for a hindi film heroine then. But she created her own space with her extraordinary talent and abundant confidence. The famous quote ‘Simplicity is the essence of beauty’ sounded so true for Jaya Bhaduri who won several hearts with her girl-next-door image. Born in a middle-class Bengali family in Jabalpur, Jaya was the eldest among 3 sisters. When she was 13, she got the rare opportunity to act in Satyajit Ray’s Bengali film ‘Mahanagar’ which further strengthened her love for acting. She enrolled into the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and graduated as a gold medallist. She was signed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee for the title role of ‘Guddi’ and the rest as they say is history. Screen Legends JAYA BHADURI Part 1 traces the journey of our very own ‘Guddi’ who soon became a star to reckon with during the period 1971 to 1975. It also features some of her brilliant scenes and clips from films like ‘Abhimaan’, ‘Naya Din Nayi Raat’, ‘Annadata’and ‘Ek Nazar’.
