Synopsis

No Bollywood actress can boast of a Cinderella-like life than Mumtaz. Her progress from a junior artiste to a vamp to a stunt heroine to a second lead to an A-grade star is remarkable. And then giving it all up to marry an eligible millionaire with homes in Uganda and London. Mumtaz’s parents, both of Iranian origin divorced when she was very young. Mumtaz and her elder sister Mallika were brought up by her mother. Both sisters started making rounds of film studios from a young age to support the family. Mumtaz began as a child artiste and soon began working as a junior artiste and and a group dancer. But her mind was always focussed on her dream of becoming a top heroine. Her destiny changed when she was offered the heroine’s role opposite Dara Singh in the stunt film ‘Faulad’. She soon became the first choice for stunt films which were very popular in the 1960s and ended up doing about 16 films with Dara Singh. SCREEN LEGENDS Mumtaz Part 1 tells the inspiring story of Mumtaz and how she used her initial struggles as stepping stones to unprecedented success. The episode becomes all the more interesting with several clips and scenes featuring Mumtaz and ends on a musical high by featuring her most popular song.
