Synopsis
Reena Roy emerged as an actress-cum-dancer par excellence in the 5 year span from 1976 to 1980. ‘Nagin’, ‘Kalicharan’, ‘Apnapan’, ‘Vishwanath’and ‘Aasha’, just to name a few were enough to prove her credentials. She became synonymous with the superhit song ‘Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho” from ‘Aasha’, a film that was the highest grosser of 1980. All the major heroes like Rajesh Khanna, Dharmendra, Shashi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar wanted to work with Reena Roy. And yet, she had no reservations of working with newcomers like Raj Babbar, Kamal Haasan, Rajnikanth and Sanjay Dutt. Ace choreographer Saroj Khan used to call her the best film dancer. Reena Roy rose to the top position in 1982 with 13 films in a year, a sort of a record. But instead of capitalizing on it, she decided to quit films and married Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan and went away to London. She gave birth to a daughter in the late 80s and returned to India.
