‘The Bengal Tigress’ Sharmila Tagore entered the world of Hindi films with a bang in 1964 with Shakti Samanta’s ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’. She created a special place for herself among movie buffs not only because she belonged to the elite family of Shri Rabinath Tagore but also because of her unique style, glamour and sophisticated attitude. Her almond shaped eyes and dimpled style stole a million hearts.
Sharmila Tagore completed the quartet of 60’s stylish heroines – Asha Parekh, Sadhana and Saira Banu. She had an edge because of her experience of working in Bengali films with the renowned filmmaker Satyajit Ray prior to her entry into Bollywood. She was equally fortunate to work with renowned directors like Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Shakti Samanta, Mohan Segal and Yash Chopra at the beginning of her career in Hindi films.
