Synopsis

Did you know Moushumi Chatterjee is one of the rare actresses who began her Hindi film career after marriage ? Moushumi was in the fifth class when she got the offer to work in the Bengali film ‘Balika Badhu’. The film was a big success making her a household name in Calcutta. But the entire unit had a tough time in handling Moushumi during its making. The actress herself narrates the interesting incidents in this episode. Moushumi married singer-composer Hemant Kumar’s son Jayanto Mukherjee when she was in the tenth class and came to Bombay. She was approached by Raj Khosla and Shakti Samanta for ‘Kuchhe Dhaage’ and ‘Anuraag’ respectively, and the rest is history. She was pregnant with her first daughter Payal while shooting for ‘Zehreela Insaan’ and ‘Roti Kapda Aur Makaan’. Film offers didn’t stop even after her delivery and she achieved greater heights as an actress after becoming a mother. SCREEN LEGENDS – Moushumi Chatterjee Part 1 celebrates the unconventional and talented actress who changed the general perception that a married woman and a mother can never be a successful hindi film heroine.
