Synopsis

While Dilip Kumar considered her the greatest actress he ever worked with, Filmfare declared her the most beautiful woman in a poll in 1950s. She was Nalini Jaywant, a huge star in the early fifties. It is so ironical that when we talk about the big stars of the Indian screen today, Nalini Jaywant’s name rarely surfaces or finds a mention. Extremely good looking and multi-faceted, Nalini Jaywant made her debut as a singing-actress at the age of 14 in ‘Radhika’(1941). But she became a major star in 1950 with ‘Samadhi’ and ‘Sangram’, both opposite Ashok Kumar. She was bold enough to wear a swim suit in ‘Sangram’ and she did it with a lot of dignity. A regular scene-stealer, she matched wits with thespian Dilip Kumar in ‘Shikast’. And not to forget her sweet sixteen avatar with Dev Anand in ‘Munimji’ and her matured award-winning role in ‘Kala Pani’ later, with the same Dev. ‘Screen Legends’ sticks to its commitment to keep the memories of those actors alive who may have faded into public memory but whose contribution to cinema can never be denied. SCREEN LEGENDS – Nalini Jaywant is one such episode that is a must watch!
