Synopsis

This is a story of a girl born as Nawab Bano in 1933 and who ended up becoming one of the top actresses of the 1950s. Little did she know while watching the shooting of Mehboob Khan’s ‘Andaz’ that her life was soon going to change. Raj Kapoor spotted her and introduced her as the second lead in his home-production ‘Barsaat’, and also gave her the screen name – Nimmi. And soon Nimmi was seen working with Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand and Dilip Kumar, the leading trio of Hindi films. Nimmi’s innocent eyes and expressive face distinguished her from the other top actresses of the day. She specialised in playing characters who were always willing to sacrifice her love and happiness for the others. And when it came to songs, Nimmi was always lucky to get the best songs, even in films where she had other co-stars like Nargis and Madhubala. Nimmi’s popularity rose with the 5 films she did with Dilip Kumar including ‘Aan’ which got her immense popularity abroad and several offers from Hollywood filmmakers. Nimmi’s dream came true when she was offered ‘Love and God’ by none other than K. Asif, immediately after the success of his ‘Mughal-E-Azam’. Unfortunately the film took years to progress and was finally released in an incomplete form decades later. By that time Nimmi was already married to writer S. Ali Raza and had retired from films. Screen Legends NIMMI narrates her interesting journey, highlighting her achievements with clips and scenes from her films. It also features some live moments with the veteran actress from an interview shot by Team Shemaroo, a few years before her death.
