Synopsis
Rakesh Roshan is known as a very successful producer and director besides being Superstar Hrithik Roshan’s father. But he started his career as an actor in the early 1970s and had a prominent acting career before he transitioned to producing and directing films in the 1980s. His father, renowned music director died when Rakesh was just 18. As the eldest son, Rakesh Roshan felt a strong responsibility to support his family and he started working as an assistant director which soon paved his way towards acting. Rakesh often found himself typecast in supporting or second-lead roles, limiting his opportunities to showcase his full potential as an actor. But he couldn’t afford to be choosy as was already married and had 2 children. His determination and hard work helped him navigate the difficult times and his persistence paid off with notable films in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Recognizing the limited scope of his acting career, Rakesh Roshan soon moved towards filmmaking and found his own production company, ‘Filmkraft’. This move marked the beginning of a new and prosperous phase in his career. And he saw unprecedented success at the dawn of the new millennium with the release of his son Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’.
