Synopsis

Perhaps, ‘Versatile’ was a term coined for Sanjeev Kumar, as he played a variety of characters of all ages, so splendidly and effortlessly in his entire acting career. Born as Harihar Zariwala, Sanjeev Kumar always wanted to be an actor since his childhood. When he came to Mumbai to pursue his dreams, he got an opportunity to portray a 60-year old in a play and he played it so well that he was somewhat slotted with the characters of an elderly person. He first faced the camera for a film in 1960 and went on gradually to establish himself in films. Sanjeev Kumar worked with Dilip Kumar in ‘Sunghursh’ (1968) and Dilip Saab was taken aback with Sanjeev’s performance and confidence. Sanjeev always concentrated on getting into the skin of his characters rather than bothering about his looks and appearance on screen. Though he also played the conventional hero in mainstream films, he was equally at ease playing an important role in a film which had other heroes in the romantic leads. RJ Adaa takes you through his initial journey with her wonderful narration in SCREEN LEGENDS Sanjeev Kumar Part 1 and also showcases his powerhouse talent through his interesting movie clips and scenes.
