After establishing himself as a successful hero in Hindi cinema, an enterprising Sunil Dutt also ventured into film production and direction of films. He worked in different genres of films throughout the 1960s and proved his versatility while ensuring his longevity. He was affected temporarily by the Rajesh Khanna wave but he soon re-invented himself in the 1970s with several action films. Sunil Dutt saw several ups and downs in his life in 1980s, right from losing his wife Nargis to cancer just a few days before the release of his son Sanjay Dutt’s debut film ‘Rocky’ to Sanjay’s drug addiction problem followed by his successful entry in politics. Immensely known for his social work, Sunil Dutt was elected a Member of Parliament for 5 terms and was also appointed India’s Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports in 2004. Despite his spotless reputation, Sunil Dutt faced a harrowing time when Sanjay was accused of being involved in the Mumbai bomb blasts case and the nightmare haunted him till his last days. SCREEN LEGENDS Sunil Dutt Part 2 pays a fitting tribute to the great humanitarian who stood his ground braving all odds but never shied away from his commitment towards his nation and social work. The episode also includes some unseen pics and videos of Sunil Dutt’s visit to Kutch for the inauguration of a hospital wing and medical equipments donated by the Shemaroo family.
