Synopsis
1948-1949 saw the meteoric rise of Suraiya as ‘Pyar Ki Jeet’, ‘Badi Bahen’ and ‘Dillagi’ went on to become big hits. She evoked the kind of hysteria that can be compared only with Rajesh Khanna in his heyday from 1969 to 1972. Actor Dharmendra himself admitted of seeing ‘Dillagi 40 times in a theatre when he was a teenager. The dream woman of many, Suraiya was herself fascinated with Hollywood actor Gregory Peck. So there was instant attraction when she met Dev Anand who actually resembled Gregory Peck a lot. Both worked in 7 films during which romance between the two blossomed.
