Synopsis

Known for his chocolate boy looks, innocent smile and a soft voice, Vinod Mehra acted in more than 100 films right from 1971 to the late 80s. He was one actor who was never insecure about being over-shadowed by his co-stars, as besides solo films, Vinod Mehra did several 2-hero projects and muti-starrers. He never shied away from doing heroine-oriented films or playing strong supporting characters. He was a mute or invisible actor who never screamed for attention but added value to the films he featured in. Vinod Mehra was one of the finalists in the 1965 All India Talent Contest organised by United Producers and Filmfare from more than ten thousand contestants. Though he lost to Rajesh Khanna, he was declared the runner-up of the contest. Filmmaker Roop K. Shorey spotted him at Gaylord Restaurant in Mumbai and gave him his first break and then there was no looking back for the handsome actor. An emotional man to the core, Vinod Mehra fell in love very easily. Hence, his personal life remained more in the news than his subtle performances. Whether it was his rumoured marriage with Rekha, his arranged marriage with Meena Broca or his whirlwind romance and marriage with Bindiya Goswami, Vinod Mehra always made headlines. He finally found peace when he married Kiran in 1988 and was blessed with 2 kids. But their marital bliss lasted only for 2 years as Vinod succumbed to a massive heart attack in October 1990 at the age of 45. SCREEN LEGENDS pays a rich tribute to the unsung and under-rated Vinod Mehra whose contribution to the Hindi films can never be ignored. Credits :- Produced By :- Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd.
