Synopsis

Ep 15 of GOLDEN CLASSICS revisits an unconventional, much-ahead-of-its-time film - TEEN DEVIAN. This Dev Anand film was considered too modern on its release in 1965, though its songs had already become chartbusters. The film revolves around Dev Anand who falls in love with 3 girls simultaneously and cannot make up his mind about who could be his perfect life partner. Nanda, Simi and Kalpana play the ‘Teen Devian,’ who also fall in love with Dev. The Climax of this B and W was shot in Colour as it forms the crux of the film where Dev is able to take a decision. The breezy, romantic film seems quite contemporary and relevant in today’s times. And above all, the evergreen songs composed by S.D. Burman and penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri sound so fresh even today. ‘Teen Devian’ is one of the unexplored gems of Hindi Cinema which could be a subject of very interesting discussion.
