Synopsis

Episode 20 of GOLDEN CLASSICS revisits the 1970 musical thriller THE TRAIN, a film that set a new trend in the world of Hindi film music and its background score, thanks to the genius called R.D. Burman. The film released during the peak of Rajesh Khanna’s superstardom, a period often referred to as the "Rajesh Khanna wave". Veteran actress Nanda played the lead opposite Khanna while Helen also featured in an important role. THE TRAIN also marked the beginning of a unique friendship between R. D. Burman and the film’s producer Ramesh Behl. In fact, Behl never worked with anyone else except RDB during the making of 10 films under his own banner ‘Rose Movies’ and while directing 2 films for outside producers, thus making their bond one of the most consistent and loyal collaborations in Hindi cinema. Director Ravikant Nagaich’s suspense thriller THE TRAIN hasn’t lost its sheen and charm despite the passage of more than 5 decades.
